Driving licence

In order to take driving lessons, you must hold either a full UK or international licence or a UK provisional licence. Your licence must me shown to your instructor on your first lesson.

Eyesight

You must be able to read an old style number plate at a distance of 20.5 metres. For a new style number plate, the required distance is 20 metres. This is a legal requirement and an eyesight check will be performed prior to your driving test by the examiner. If you are unable to meet these requirements, correctional glasses or lenses must be worn at all times whilst driving.

Lesson cancellations

  • Pupil
    Please provide your instructor with at least 48 hours notice if you wish to cancel your lesson. Lessons cancelled within 48 hours must be paid for in full. 

  • Instructor
    If the driving instructor is unable to undertake the lesson then either a full refund is provided or the lesson will be rescheduled to a convenient time for the instructor and pupil.

Use of tuition vehicle for driving tests

We reserve the right to withdraw the use of the tuition vehicle for the driving test if we feel that your driving is potentially or actually dangerous.

Punctuality

  • Pupil
    When arriving at your chosen pick up destination for the lesson and there is no reply at the address in question, we will wait 15 minutes. If you fail to make contact or we are unable to contact you. the driving lesson will be abandoned and you will be required to make payment in full.

  • Instructor
    If the instructor is going to be late, he or she will inform you by phone. The pupil reserves the right to either:
    1) Cancel the lesson, with a full refund if paid for in advance
    2) Continue with the lesson to the scheduled finish time. A discount will apply for lost time.
    3) Continue the lesson over the scheduled finish time to make up for the lost time.
